Affair with the Divine: Psychic Experiences Through Grief and Adventure Review
- Affair with the Divine invites you to share in the author’s journey, to feel her joy and her pain, to take the opportunity to draw synergistic comparisons between her extrasensory experiences and your own. From her remembrances of the grief suffered after the death of her husband to the subsequent need to travel to France and Italy, Ms. Curry’s personal stories are an invitation for you to open your mind and heart to your own greater perception. A love affair with your divine half is a peak experience. You can realize that the mutual support has always been there. You just didn’t know what to look for.
- Chances are you have read at least one book about finding higher meaning in your life, anticipating that the explanations and practices would resonate. You closed the book with hope and energy, but ultimately there was no real change. Most self-help books have good intentions, but the information is flawed because it is dependent upon following that person’s methods based on his or her personal experiences, not your own. But no one else has lived the dynamics of your past and present life, nor is anyone engaged in creating your unique future.
- This memoir is divided into two parts. The first half is biographical, in order to explain how even as a child the author felt the possibility that her natural born instinct to ask “Why am I here?” might have an answer. Her other natural skill was dancing, but there was a time when all was not well professionally and personally. She escaped her growing concerns in New York City, by accepting a year’s dance teacher position in Vienna, Austria. Upon arrival, the address of the apartment she hastily found was on a street she’d seen in a dream.
- The second half of the book is the exact, real-time daily journal written during travel to Europe while still grieving, in order to find a new beginning. The journal entries come from her experiment to allow all of nature to express itself, not just human acquaintances (interesting as they are like the Italian taxi driver in Como, Italy who was really Romanian). There is the dog on the beach who shared his state of mind with her. Don’t miss that, nor the denouement scene in a very old French church that capped the whole ball of wax.

“An extremely enjoyable story about how one woman deals with the profound loss of her husband and soul mate. She takes us not only on her physical journey, but also on the personal and metaphysical she follows as well. We met many interesting individuals along the way, as well as taking in fantastical scenery through her adept discreption.” By Gina Arnone
“M.L. Curry takes us on a wonderful inner journey. We go with her to exotic and yet familiar places, and experience different stages of her life. We see ourselves on the same quest, trying to figure out who we are and what our purpose in this universe is. Wonderful book!” By Beatriz B
